The 16S is a turn key PV Cell testing solar simulator. The single output of the 16S-300-002 produces full spectrum sunlight (AM1.5) and is a class "A" spectrum solar simulator. The 16S-300-002 comes with a vertical beam adapter that redirects the light beam to point downward. The spot size is typically 2.25 inches with an 1 sun output intensity.

By varying the current using the control knob on the power supply, the intensity can be varied between 80 and 100% of maximum. The intensity can be varied further from 10% and 100% with the optional "Attenuation Kit" available from Solar Light Co.

> Optional PMA2100 Radiometer and PMA2144 Class II Pyranometer to measure simulator output
> UV and Air Mass 0, 1.5 spectra available

Description:

The 16S solar simulator accurately replicates full spectrum sunlight and meets the latest standards for light sources by ASTM. Many of the ASTM standards requiring the G151 and G155 standards can be accomplished with the 16S-002. The 16S-002 can be used to test solar cells according to ASTM standards E948-95, and G173.

Features:

  • 150/300 watt xenon arc lamp
  • 150 watt model with our XPS150 power supply
  • 300 watt model with our XPS 300 power supply
  • Air Mass Filters are validated to NIST traceable light sources and are in accordance with ASTM Standards
  • Internal igniter - Igniter is used to ignite the xenon arc lamp
  • Lamp housing
  • Complete high performance optics for collimation and uniformity
  • NEW Class "A" Air Mass 1.5 Spectrum in a 3cm spot size.

Air mass 1.5 = 952 w/m2

Intensity varies with area of output. The spectrum remains the same. See chart below.

> 16S 150/300 Air mass 1.5 Energy Output Chart (Round Output)

Size/shape output 2 cm round Horizontal or *Vertical output 3 cm round Horizontal or *Vertical output 6 cm round Horizontal     or Vertical output
Area of output 3.142 cm2 7.068 cm2 28.27 cm2
150 watt system Intensity 4000 w/m2 2000 w/m2 500 w/m2
300 watt system Intensity N/A 4000 w/m2 1000 w/m2

* Vertical Output is an option for the 2cm and 3cm models and requires additional optics which are not included with the standard 2cm and 3cm units.

NOTE: The PMA2144 Pyranometer will become saturated over 4000 w/m2 so an attenuation filter may be required.

Solar Light provides free telephone technical support for the life of our products. We also provide a  1 year Standard Warranty on all of our products covering parts and labor.
> Extended Warranty Plans are also available.

Optional Equipment:

> Dose Control System - The Dose Control System is an integral part of conducting precision sunlight exposure testing. The Dose Control System allows the monitoring and controlling of the output of the 16S-002. It cumulates the amount of light being outputted and alerts you when your preset dose has been reached. This features allows you to expose a precise amount of light to the solar cell.
