The 601 Multiport® Solar Simulator is a turnkey system for SPF testing. The Solar Simulator can produce UVA or UVA+UVB from its 6 individual outputs. The intensity of light from each output can be adjusted individually providing the capability to deliver different doses of UV from each of the 6 outputs. This allows for multiple tests to be performed in a short period of time.

An optional Point of Service Cart for the Solar Simulator is available with 2 dimensional electronic actuators to allow accurate placement of , and includes a fixture to carry the power supply, a stand for the radiometer and a desktop for note taking.

> The Model 601 Multiport® is also available with an optional Dose Control System that monitors and controls the output.

The Model 601 Multiport® Solar Simulator outputs UV radiation in the region of 290 to 400 nm specifically for SPF testing and dermatological studies. With an intensity of up to to 4 MED's per minute for each output the Model 601 Multiport® Solar Simulator is ideal for testing laboratories where a large number of tests need to be completed. The output is approximately 20 times the intensity of the sun and accurately simulates the ultraviolet spectrum of the sun.

The intensity of the output can be controlled by adjustment knobs on each port and from the power supply. Solar Light® Solar Simulators are used in 95% of SPF testing laboratories globally and meet the latest COLIPA, JCIA, and FDA spectral irradiance standards.

Features:

  • Filters - Validated to the International Sun Protection Factor Test Method Standard 2003
  • Internal igniter - Igniter is used to ignite the xenon arc lamp
  • Lamp housing
  • Six liquid light guides each 19.7" (50cm) long
  • Adjustable stand allowing 20" (50cm) vertical adjustment
  • Articulating arm for holding Liquid Light Guides firmly in position during tests
  • Complete high performance optics and homogenizer for collimation and uniformity
  • Output selection switch to choose between UV-A only and UV-A + UV-B spectrum.

Service and Warranty:

Solar Light provides free telephone technical support for the life of our products. We also provide a 1 year Standard Warranty on all of our products covering parts and labor.
> Extended Warranty Plans are also available.

Applications:

The model 601 Multiport® Solar Simulator precisely reproduces the solar ultraviolet spectrum while eliminating the visible and infrared light.  This results in UV levels 15-20 times stronger than tropical sun without the thermal portion.

Its 6 independently adjustable outputs allow for 6 tests to be conducted simultaneously, greatly reducing testing time.

Technical Papers, and Test Methods:

> In Vitro Measurements of Sunscreen Performance by Dr. Stanfield, Suncare Research Labs

> Testing of Sunscreen Products by Dr. Olga Dueva-Koganov, IBT, HBA 2010 Symposium

> FDA Sunscreen Drug Products for Over the Counter Human Drugs - (1164K) Federal Register Friday August 25 1978 Part II First Federal Sunscreen Testing Protocol.

> Colipa SPF Test Method - The standard method used by the European cosmetic industry to determine sun protection factors of sun products manufactured and marketed in Europe.

Optional Equipment:

> An automatic Dose Control System, can be purchased separately to monitor the output and automatically control the delivered dose. It cumulates the amount of UV being outputted and automatically closes a shutter stopping the UV exposure when a preset dose of UV has been reached.
