Melanoma Mutagenesis - 16S Solar Simulator
150/300 watt

Light Source 150 watt Solar Simulator
  • Delivery on all items is stock to two weeks
  • Every product is calibrated to NIST traceable
  • +/- 5% uniformity
  • Available in 150 or 300 watts

The Melanoma Mutagenesis Single port Solar Simulator can output UVA, UVB or UVA+UVB. The output intensity can be customized but typically is used with an output of 500 J/m2 per minute. The 16S Solar Simulator is ideal for UV induced Melanoma research because of its class "A" spectral output, +/- 5% uniformity, and 2% output stability. These specifications make the 16S Solar Simulator ideal for testing because of the accuracy of results coming from a uniform and stable light source.

> Optional Dose Control System
> Meets ASTM standards for Laboratory Lights Sources
> Follows Class "A" spectrum

Description:

UV exposure at the UVB 260 - 320 nm and UVA 320 - 400 nm range is the most biologically relevant factor for inducing melanoma. The 16S Solar Simulator can output either UVA only, UVB only or UVA + UVB. This feature allows an optional dimension of research to be used when studying UV-induced carcinogenesis.

The intensity of the 16S Solar Simulator's output can be controlled by adjustment knobs on each port and from the power supply. Full intensity ranges from 500 to 700 J/m2 per minute but the intensity can be tuned down to 1 J/m2 per minute. Solar Light TM solar simulators are used in testing laboratories globally and meet the latest ASTM, COLIPA, JCIA, and FDA spectral irradiance standards.

The 16S Solar Simulator accurately replicates the sun's UV and meets the latest standards for laboratory light sources by ASTM including G151 and G155 standards.

In the Ultraviolet configuration, the visible and infrared light is eliminated from its output. UV levels 20-30 times stronger than tropical sun can be produced without the thermal component associated with these high levels light. This allows testing to be accomplished without damaging the sample due to heat.

Features:

Optional Equipment:

< Dose Control System - The Dose Control System is an integral part of conducting precision UV exposure testing. The Dose Control System allows the monitoring and controlling of the output of the 16S. It cumulates the amount of UV being outputted and automatically closes a shutter stopping the UV exposure when a preset dose of UV has been reached.

Typical Maintenance:

  • Xenon arc lamps need to be replaced after 800 hours of use or once lamp begins to gray.
  • Lamp alignment should be checked annually by dealer or Solar Light Technician.
