The Melanoma Mutagenesis 601 Multiport® Light Source can output UVA or UVA+UVB from 6 individual ports. The output for each port can be customized but typically is used with an intensity of 500 J/m2 every minute for each port. The 601 is ideal for UV induced Melanoma research because it allows you to conduct a large number of exposures in a small amount of time. The 601 Multiport® has a class "A" spectral output, +/- 5% uniformity, and 2% output stability.

UV exposure at the UVB 260 - 320 nm and UVA 320 - 400 nm range is the most biologically relevant factor for inducing melanoma. The 601 Multiport® can output either UVA only or UVA + UVB. This feature allows an optional dimension of research to be used when studying UV-induced carcinogenesis.

The intensity of the 601's output can be controlled by adjustment knobs on each port and from the power supply. Full intensity ranges from 500 to 700 J/m2 per minute but the intensity can be tuned down to 1 J/m2 per minute. Solar Light solar simulators are used in testing laboratories globally and meet the latest ASTM, COLIPA, JCIA, and FDA spectral irradiance standards.

The model 601 Multiport® Solar Simulator precisely reproduces the solar ultraviolet spectrum while eliminating the visible and infrared light.  This results in UV levels 15-20 times stronger than tropical sun without the thermal portion.

Its 6 independently adjustable outputs allow for 6 tests to be conducted simultaneously, greatly reducing testing time.
